We heart Legos 2.0

Gone are the two 34 quart storage boxes. We needed more storage for our legos ... much more!

I loved the idea Family Fun featured in the November 2011 issue. Which is basically what we've got now, just minus the board on top that creates a smoother building surface. We mostly build on the floor anyway. If I ever get around to turning the nursery into a playroom/office, maybe I'll move the bricks in there and add the board and space for a chair or two.

I love Remy Evard's (funny) essay on lego storage. I think we are now around step 11.

What are they?!

I briefly mentioned that I have a part-time gig holding babies at Joseph's school (yep, paid to hold babies!). I'm changing diapers and fixing bottles until the nursery teacher returns from maternity leave. I was worried about juggling several babies at once but it hasn't been nearly as bad as I expected. Yea me for taking on a new challenge and stepping out of my comfort zone!

The babies and I like playing with the nursery's crazy alphabet blocks. I build, they knock down. Whee! No telling how old they are or how long they have been in the room. Aren't the drawings just wild? Dog? Seal? I think that one's a horse. Do kids today know what a candlestick holder is or a cable car? The real mystery is that block in the lower left hand corner. What is that? A helmet? Futuristic pod house on stilts? Will flipped it and says it's a boat. Any and all guesses welcome.

In the attic

On a recent trip to the grandparents, some of the more hardier souls ventured into the attic. The search party was hoping to find training wheels to add to Will's new bike. A set was not found, but many other treasures were ...

Someone was a very lucky boy their first Christmas.
Fisher-Price Play Family Airport, dated 1972.

Folds out for play.

Love the graphics!

Fisher-Price boat, dated 1972.
Hasbro Weebles Camp-About Camper, dated 1972.

I like the sticker furnishings. Detail shot of boat.

So important to have those throw rugs in the '70s. Detail shot of RV.

Fisher-Price Creative Coaster. Very cool vintage piece that shows the love it had.
Chris admits biting the horn off. Dated 1972.

Milton-Bradley Star Bird, 1979.
This was not in the attic but is a prized toy of daddy's that had been hanging out in his old room.
Not anymore as it came home with us. But it was not let into the van until the battery was taken out.
It makes noise, lots of noise. And according to Will, when it was taken for show-n-tell Tuesday, everyone went crazy!

Treasures for the adults too!

This would look very nice used to frame a similarly framed picture.

My father-in-law took these from an old house slated to be torn down.

So what do you do with vintage toys? You play with them!
(Carefully!)
